Miri City

📍Miri

A gigantic ‘MIRI’ sign atop Bukit Telaga Minyak, also known as Canada Hill, The all-white sign, measuring 37 metres long and 18 metres high, is being erected at the hill top overlooking the city below with South China Sea in the forefront. The sign is close to the Miri Petroleum Science Museum and the replica of Oil Well No. 1 fondly known as the “Grand Old Lady” as well as another old time oil-industry related structure. Miri is a Malaysian city on the northwest coast of the island of Borneo located near the border of Brunei, founded in 1910 when the first oil well was drilled by Royal Dutch Shell. The discovery of an oil field in Miri has led to rapid development of Miri town. Miri became the administrative centre of the northern region of Sarawak by 1929. #Miri #travelwithseth
