Banana climbing is a traditional Indonesian culture . Banana tree climbing is a competition carried out by climbing a banana stem tied to a piece of wood so that it hangs (or another tree, usually areca nut) that has been treated with lubricating fluid or some kind of oil, to fight over items that are hung on it. Usually held to commemorate Indonesian Independence Day.
