Hmong Daily clothes

Very typical Hmong daily clothes for women is the long sleeve colorful cheong sam shirt, black velvet knee short, velvet calf wrapper tied with colorful ribbon with pattern, and a colorful woven sling bag. At the beginning, I thought the clothes they wear is something special because they have a guide job to do, but along the way, I saw many women wearing the similar clothes. Whether they are at home, at the store, on the farm, or working in the field. Even though they are from the Black Hmong, the black traditional clothes wasn’t being worn everyday. But when it comes to the heavy work or a long walk, they prefer to wear this simpler and lighter clothes, to make them do the job easier. Hmong women are petit. At least compared to me who has 41 sized shoes and 167 cm height, Mai and Xhou is much smaller than me. BUT! Their seems to have more energy, and with their petit body and feet, it makes them easier to step on the narrowest mud path, without even leaving a foot print. While me, with my trekking boot on, a blob of foot prints everwhere! They can jump so easy on the steepest path, and step lightly on the wiggled stones when we crossed the river. What an elegant move!!
