The Vidyasagar Setu Bridge, also known as the Second Hooghly Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the Hooghly River in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was opened to traffic in 1992 and is named after the famous Bengali reformer and philosopher, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.
The bridge connects the cities of Kolkata on the east bank and Howrah on the west bank of the river, and it is an important transportation link between the two. The Vidyasagar Setu is the longest cable-stayed bridge in India with a length of 823 meters and a width of 35 meters. It has two main towers, each standing at a height of 121 meters.
