Mazaraat Cheese Factory

Do you know that in Yogyakarta, on the slope of Mt Merapi there is the first artisan organic cheese in Indonesia? Yes there is ! And it’s called Mazaraat Cheese. I know this brand since 2015 when a friend who knows I like cheese a lot show me Mazaraat little store in keraton area, since then I am a Big fan of their cheese. You won’t see the mass factory made cheese like the one you find in Indonesian supermarket, but those cheeses are the real one! They’re made of raw milk bought from the local farmers. The cow should all be grass fed so it has much better quality milk compare to the one fed with factory food. The owner also choose the location in Cangkringan village, on the slope of Merapi mountain because the weather is much cooler than other area in Yogyakarta. Another important aspect also it is much closer to the cow farmers, so the milk can be transported easily without ruining it. It is said that raw milk should be transported max 60 km if you want to have a real good quality milk. The closer, the better. Started with only small batch less then 100 liter milk per day, now Mazaraat daily milk consumption reaches 1000 liters. Started only selling 4 kind of cheese, now they have various kind of French Cheese product. From fresh cheese to aged one. From soft creamy cheese to the hard one, you name it. What I really like the most is the taste. Although the product is 100% local, the taste is just like the original french cheese. I just can’t get enough. I am in a cheese heaven.
