SAAS BAHU TEMPLE

A very unique and rare find and perhaps one of the 2-3 temples that are dedicated to saas (mother-in-law) and bahu (daughter-in-law). This temple located in heart of Udaipur is a visual retreat It is said that the king of Mahipala of Kachchhwaha Dynasty got them constructed sometime in the 10th century A.D. And the story of the temple goes like this that the queen of Mahipala was a devotee of Lord Vishnu and king got her a temple constructed so that she can worship Lord Vishnu daily. The king had a son and when he got married he came to know that his wife is follower of Lord Shiva. So following the act of kindness of his father he got another temple constructed for his wife next to the already constructed one so that his wife can oray to Lord shiva daily. and that became the temples of Mother in Law and Daughter in Law.
