Sarung Tenun Kre'sesek
📍Kecamatan Moyo Hulu
The kre'sesek woven sarong is handmade by the people of several villages in Sumbawa, such as Moyo Village, Lengas Village, and Poto Village. Usually, to make a woven sarong, it takes at least 1 month. This is because, apart from being a woven sarong maker, the people there also work as farmers.
Various types of animals and plants become motifs that are commonly used on woven sarongs by the people nicknamed the land of Samawa. One of the animal motifs that is often used is the deer.
The main ingredients for making this kre'sesek sarong are ordinary threads and kembaya threads (special threads used for motifs). The tools used to make the kre'sesek woven sarong are still very traditional, such as tolang guren, small golang, comb, and belida.
Kre'sesek woven sarongs have been known since the time of the Sumbawa Kingdom. At that time, one of the rooms of the Dalam Loka Palace became a special place for making these woven sarongs.
The kre'sesek woven sarong has now become one of the traditional Sumbawa clothing ornaments. Many tourists deliberately visit one of the districts in West Nusa Tenggara to look for a typical Sumbawa woven sarong.
