Kardelen çiçeği yüksek rakımlı yerlerde ve çoğunlukla dağ eteklerinde açan bir bitkidir. Soğuğa dayanıklı olduğu için üzerinde kar varken bile çiçek açabilir. Dayanıklı bir yapıya ve etkileyici güzelliğe sahip olduğu için herkes tarafından sevilir. Çiçeklerin evrensel bir dile sahip olduğunu biliyorsunuz. Bazıları ise bir hikâyeye sahiptir. Hikâyeye sahip olanlardan biri de kardelen çiçeğidir. Ülkemizin Anadolu bölgesinde birkaç alt türü var olsa da kardelen çiçeğini ilk olarak 1874 yılında ve İzmir ilinde tanıdık.
