Ba'da Lontong

Bada comes from the Arabic word, ba'da, which means after. Lontong is a type of food made from boiled rice, wrapped in banana leaves, generally oval in shape. Bada lontong is the term for eating lontong together at the mosque on the 8th of Shawwal. Lontong comes from the congregation of the mosque. The imam of the mosque or the cleric usually sends more rice cake than the other congregation, because this is the momentum for the clerics to give alms. Lontong is not only sent to the mosque, but also to neighbors. The celebration which is marked with food is carried out in the morning, at dluha time, around eight to nine o'clock. The congregation of the mosque gathered, from children to the elderly. Before eating together, a tahlil is recited led by the imam of the mosque or local elders. This celebration is carried out after fasting sunnah for six days in the month of Shawwal. Actually, it is not obligatory to fast the sunnah fast consecutively, but the clerics urge them to do it consecutively so as not to delay it. #Guidebook
