Few days ago when i visited RTO for some work .. i got this tiny robber resting on a twig but as usual i was unlucky as not having my lens with me but i have learned to never miss an opportunity so i decided to take some shots without lens setting focus to 10 i.e macro and when i was busy clicking her pic she flew and catched a prey ( Microchrysa sp ) in a micro moment of a second and started enjoying her meal again this was a tiny robber fly (Ommatius sp) probably .. They are medium-sized robber flies with distinctively branching, or slightly feathery antennae (look close, or take a picture and zoom in). In North America north of Mexico, there are about 13 species in genus Ommatius, and about four or five of these might be found in Missouri. One of the most common species is O. gemma, which is widespread in the southeastern United States. Distinguishing between the species involves looking closely at the body bristles, leg coloration, configuration of reproductive structures, and other details.
