edge of the french quarter, NOLA

this is where canal st. turns into bourbon st., as one walks from the central business district into the french quarter. this can be a harrowing walk at night, for those of us who prefer to stay in the CBD for the art museums, galleries, or business at the fed courts during the day, but like to spend time in the quarter or in the marigny in the evening for music and socialising. for those who prefer not to make such a walk, I recommend hotel Sonesta. it's a beautiful hotel in the quarter surrounded by a huge wall and guarded by a former master sergeant, us army.
