Opened in 1957, Victoria Park is the largest public park on Hong Kong Island. It occupies an area of 19 hectares and was named after the statue of Queen Victoria, which is located at the main entrance of the park on Causeway Road. It is strategically located in Causeway Bay and if you are in the area, you can easily find it.
Many people, especially local workers, spend their leisure time at the park. This is because of the attractive sites and other facilities of the area, which include the statue of Queen Victoria, located at the main gate of the park, bandstand, central lawn and walking trail. Also, there are a large number of sports facilities, such as 2 lawn bowl green, 14 tennis courts, swimming pool complex, 600-meter trail, soccer pitches, basketball courts and children playgrounds. Tennis is the most adored game and many people gather at the park to enjoy international competitions such as Hong Kong Open and Hong Kong Classic.
Besides, there are many events which take place at Victoria Park on yearly basis, including Lunar New Year fair and Hong Kong flower show.
