💫Dhamek Stupa which is also spelled as Dhamekh and Dhamekha is one of the most famous and Buddhist stupas located in Sarnath near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India. This solid cylindrical shaped Stupa made of red bricks and stone in its present position stands at a height of 43.6 m with a diameter of 28 m. 💫The significance of this sacred place is that it marks the spot where Lord Buddha preached the first sermon to His five disciples after attaining enlightenment in Bodh Gaya. . 💫Its texture ⤵️ This massive Stupa is cylindrical in shape and built with red bricks and stone with the lower part being entirely covered with aesthetically pleasing carved stones. . ➡️ It was built by Emperor Ashoka, the king of the Maurya dynasty. . ➡️ It is located in Sarnath of Banaras. . Varanasi is well-connected with other parts of India by air, rail and roads. One can hire a cab, auto or even a rickshaw from hotel depending on distance from hotel to reach the spot. . 💫Visit Timing & Entrance Fee ⤵️ The site remains open from sunrise to sunset and can be visited anytime of the year. Entry fees per person for Indian citizens and visitors of SAARC and BIMSTEC nations is Rs. 5/- and for others is Rs. 100/-. Entry is free for children up to 15 years of age. . 💫Personal experience ⤵️ The Stupa was a great addition to our varanasi trip. Would recommend to visit as early in the day as possible as it can get hot. You can do a quick 20mins viewing and run or a detailed 2hour look over the grounds and the museum. All are well maintained by Archaeological society of india.. ➡️ Must Know ⤵️ Must wear descent clothing because most Srilanken & other countries The Followers of "The Buddha" comes here for worship & Pray....Proper footwear, Hat / Umbrella , water bottle must have. . This area also having The ruined parts of The Ashokan Pillar and the top of the part is safely situated in near by Arachnological museum which is The Indian National Emblem. . If you will hire a proper guide or authenticated guide then you will know better a very fine and oldest history of this area and "The Buddha". Do not hire any local or unauthorised guide they will charge more and giving you the wrong or false information . Nearby the proper paid parking for vehicles . No snacks or fast-food shops inside the museum boundary. Outside too many counters of fast-food & snacks on the side of main road. No - smoking inside the Compound area.
