Bajang Ratu Temple
📍Kecamatan Trowulan
Indonesia doesn't only have Borobudur or Prambanan temples, you know! If you look more broadly, to the East Java area, you will meet a temple that is no less unique, the Bajang Ratu Temple.
Located in Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency, Bajang Ratu is a temple heritage of the Majapahit Kingdom which triumphed in the 14th century. Thus, the existence of this temple is very important for historical researchers.
Standing in a fairly large garden area, Bajang Ratu Temple has a multi-storey building structure with a height of 16.1 meters. Made of red bricks, Bajang Ratu Temple attracts attention through the reliefs of Sri Tanjung and the Ramayana.
Especially for the Sri Tanjung relief, you can see details of the typical Hindu treatment process. For those who don't know, treatment itself is a process of liberation from the curse.
The roof of the Bajang Ratu Temple has a sun relief which is a symbol of the Majapahit Kingdom. The reliefs are neatly displayed on the roof of the temple which is in the shape of a pyramid with a square peak, unique because it is very similar to a mountain.
The Bajang Ratu Temple itself was built to honor the king, Jayanegara, who at that time was crowned the leader at a young or young age . So, the naming of the Bajang Ratu Temple also comes from this fact.
The Majapahit Kingdom itself was known as the largest kingdom with the most advanced economy of its time in Indonesia. In fact, this kingdom was the first to use money as a trade exchange value in the form of Majapahit coins.
So, to go to Bajang Ratu Temple, you can take various public transportation from Mojokerto City to Temon Village in Trowulan. The entry ticket is also quite affordable, only Rp. 3,000 per person.
