The great Sanchi Stupa

Sanchi great Stupa, a Buddhist complex on a hilltop at Sanchi town of district Raisen ,state Madhyapradesh, India. It is located at distance of ~45 km from Bhopal, capital of Madhyapradesh. Sanchi is one of the oldest stone structures in India, and an important monument of Indian architecture. It was originally commissioned by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka the great in the 3rd century BCE.  Sanchi was also his birthplace of Ashoka's wife as well as the venue of their wedding. The place has all the peaceful vibes and beautiful stone architecture. How to reach ? - By flight, the Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal is the closest airport to Sanchi stupa ,about 55 KM away. From there you can hire taxi, that will bring you under the heritage within hour. - By train Sanchi has a small railway station which can be reached by few trains. The major nearest is Bhopal Junction , 50 KM away. - By bus, there are many regular buses and traveller ply on daily bases day & night from all major cities. you can also hire a taxi or cab. Also best way to explore heritage site is by foot.
