3. Fishing Time! πππ¬

Here was one of our catch from my previous posting!
π· - He caught one Snakehead Fish using his Parang! π
ππ‘
It was in fact, very funny to see him chasing after the fish in the rice paddy field. The fish swam away very fast (π€ more like running to me - but i'm just kidding here π), till he had to grab his parang and yes, chop the head like those kung fu movie heroes (so you got food for dinner). Hence, the splattering of mud all over him. You should try this fishing method when you visit this place, i will be more than happy to document your experience. πππ»
π - π‘ Did you know what a Parang is? Parang definition is - a short sword, cleaver, or machete common in Malaysia and Indonesia. It is a type of knife used across the Malay archipelago. It is often mistakenly assumed to be a sword; however, there is no evidence that it has ever been used in a formal military conflict, nor that its intended purpose was to be used as a combat weapon.
π - π Did you know too? The Snakehead Fish, more commonly known by its Malay name 'Ikan Haruan' or 'Lawid Badus' in local Lun Bawang language, has a reputation for promoting wound healing. This is especially so among women who have just given birth, in particular those who have undergone a caesarean section. It is usually prepared fresh in the form of a soup, although the more concentrated fish essence is also available for sale elsewhere.
Ikan haruan has all the essential amino acids that come together to form a polypeptide responsible for the healing process in humans. It also has omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids that help to regulate prostaglandin synthesis, which plays a major role in the inflammatory process that leads to healing. One fatty acid in particular, arachidonic acid, plays a crucial role in this process, and is available in high quantities in Ikan Haruan. In addition, the fish contains two types of collagen, which helps form the structure for tissues to repair and regenerate.
In the past, when there were no medical aids, what more to say, a Clinic nearby in Ba'Kelalan, Ikan Haruan was one of their natural medicine for wound treatments. ππ₯π©ββοΈπ¨ββοΈ
β FAQ - What other fishes can be found in the rice paddy fields? There are also small tilapias, carps, and even little prawns and snails.
