Characteristics of the Natuna Sea

The area owned by Natuna fulfills the requirements to be designated as a National Geopark. It stretches from the south to the north, and covers almost half of the eastern side of Bunguran Island. Geopark is a management concept for the development of an area in a sustainable manner, by combining three natural diversities. Namely geology (geodiversity), biology (biodiversity), and culture (culturaldiversity). The concept is based on aspects of conservation, education, community empowerment, and growing local economic value through geotourism. In addition, geoparks require that an area must not change its natural shape. Therefore, it is necessary to involve the community to maintain and process it.
